Absolute Trash

Stay away from this LPK. It was missing a spring, the bolt catch plunger was out of spec. The front takedown/pivot pin had to be hammered out after the detent was installed, and the rear takedown pin was binding up even before I put the detent in. At that point of assembly I stopped, wrestled every piece out, and called Brownell’s for a return label.

Cheap

I bought this kit just to use a few parts because I was going to use hi quality trigger and bolt catch, the mag release was with in spec, but the takedown pins and their detents were not. The front pin would grab and the rear pin wouldn’t even move I had to use a hammer and punch to remove the pin.

Not mil spec BEWARE

Trigger pins are larger then mill spec but can be made to fit, Safety to large to fit, mag catch spring to wide and will not work, I haven't tried the the take down pins. All the cast parts are great and worth the money on there own. In short this won't get you threw a build but it helps. Buy a better quality spring and pin kit you be fine.

Stay away

Bought June/2017 to keep around as spare parts. Had a lot of spare parts on my spare parts bin, decided to use them to build a stripped lower - and used this LPK as I already had it.Pivot and takedown detents (as other have said) grab the pins too much - no kidding, I had to use a brass hammer to pull both pins !Does NOT include grip screw - lucky me I had a couple lying around. Very low quality - spend $20 or $15 more and get a good LPK. Would not recommend under any circumstances.

Terrible...

Good cheap kit, finish is awful, obvious porosity in casting surfaces. Safety is super gritty and take down pins are super tight.

For the money...this kit can't be beat!

I have purchased and used these kits in the past and recently purchased two more. After reading the reviews, I thought I would give my findings. Maybe because I am a gunsmith and an experienced builder, I have not had a single problem! I will be purchasing more.

Poor quality overall

Same issues as the other reviewers - should've known better than to buy this. The detents for the takedown grab the takedown pins far more than they should. Took a file to them to round them off a bit to alleviate this. The safety included had a horrible feel to it - very gritty and more resistance than should be present. Swapped it for another safety lever that I had and the problem went away . Also worth noting, this kit does not include a grip screw. The picture accurately depicts that, I just overlooked it and could see others overlooking the same. Luckily I had a few extra on hand.

Get what you pay for

I bought a few of these. They are nothing special and priced accordingly. I had a bad mag dis connector and they quickly sent me a replacement, kit comes with a very plastic dis connect button. A nice cheap way to finish off your project and get it through the paces, then swap out for better parts later if you see need to. They will probably stay in a while and work fine.

Kind of an odd LPK...

A few non-standard parts here- for one, the takedown detents are black (not gold) and asymmetrical in shape. The blunt end needs to face the pin, because the pointy end will lock your pin. FCG pins are .155 or greater, and would not pass through a Noveske lower (NBD, I have a pile of standard pins on my bench). Selector detent, also too pointy to interface with the selector (or recess too deep?) maybe they will break in as they grind, but I junked those too. Lastly, the BHO roll pin is a spiral vs. a C (again, no biggie, just strange). I would avoid this product.

I do not recommend.

Kit seemed fine looking it over initially. Once installed the safety selector switch does not smoothly rotate from safe to fire. It feels gritty and takes more force than it should. My other issue is the take down pins. Same issue, they do not smoothly push out and take more force than normal. It's like the detent is binding on the surface of the selector and take down pins. The rest of the kit is fine and I'll make do with the take down pins. The safety selector, I will have to replace for something else. It just feels terrible.

Great quality at a reasonable price!

Great finish and fit. Not covered in sloppy grease but lightly coated in preservative. Everything fit great! The front pivot pin fit very snugly and took out all the upper/lower slop in two sets I tried it in. I've spent money on National Match and oversized pins and this one worked just as well. I'll buy again for sure.

Quality parts to support a quality build

DPMS Makes quality parts and firearms. My hobby(?) is building MSRs. I have some value-add triggers from HiperFire & Gieslle (sp) and the stock DPMS are nearly as good, except for a bit longer reset distance. I have never had a gritty, uncertain or unreliable DPMS trigger group. Unless you are very trigger-sensitive, buy these, install them correctly, and enjoy them. My only negative is the inclusion of the pistol grip. I have a bunch of these laying around. I just don't like the feel of them and the finger bump never fits my hands.

exactly what it says it is

this is a great mill spec lower parts kit; it is exactly what it says it is, a basic mill spec lower parts kit; no bells no whistles everything fits and is well made. if you want something to get a lower running this is close to perfect. dont expect this to be smooth and polished; it is well made but it is a BASIC just what you need to make it to bang kit.

Missing parts.

I'm boutique AR-15 builder. I build a few dozen under my 07 FFL. I bought 4 of these kits and one was missing the roll pin for the bolt release and another was missing the grip bolt. Not a big deal for me because I have many extra parts. But if you are a first time buyer to build an AR it would suck.

Great Value

Not sure what the other's are complaining about. This is my 2nd parts kit as the first went into a Anderson lower and the 2nd went into a Savage lower. It's the owners responsibility to ensure if the parts kit will drop into their lower as some lowers have a different diameter trigger/hammer holes drilled. This kit is Mil-spec meaning that if your lower is Mil-Spec'd then this parts kit will drop right on it. The parts are of high quality and finish. My first AR build has over 5k rounds fired and still going strong. The trigger will get smoother in time as you shoot it but out of the box it's more than adequate for "government work". lol...

Terrible Trigger

I bought this parts kit about a year ago and used it to build my first AR. Following YouTube tutorials that I had saved to my phone, it was fairly easy and I checked multiple times to ensure that all the parts were properly installed. I just recently bought the upper receiver for my AR (A 20" BCM) and took it out to test fire with some Frontier 55 grain ammunition. In the first range test, I shot 46 rounds total. The gun failed to fire nine times. When I checked the ammunition that failed to fire, I discovered that the primer had been struck by the pin. Not wanting to believe I had made a mistake by using a fairly inexpensive trigger, I initially chalked it up to a bad batch of ammo. A few days ago I took the gun out again and fired a full 30 round magazine of Frontier. Two more rounds had light strikes. Bear in mind that these were not mag dumps; I was actually taking my time with each shot. After the 11th light strike, I decided to buy different ammo and bought some Federal American Eagle 55 grain from a different sporting goods store. When I fired less than a full magazine yesterday, the gun once again malfunctioned. When I hinged the upper open to look at the trigger, I discovered that the trigger was rusting. It had been well oiled when I installed it, had stayed in a climate controlled area from the time I installed it to the first use, and since I have only shot the gun on four occasions with less than 100 total rounds of ammunition through the gun, I did not see a reason to break the gun apart and clean it at any point. I am currently waiting on a replacement trigger from BCM. Remember before purchasing that you get what you pay for and just go for a Geissele parts kit with something like a BCM PNT trigger instead of this.

I ordered my kit. It came fast. The kit was perfectly sealed, and it came with *everything* it was supposed to have, so I don't know what others were complaining about regarding missing pieces. It went together nicely with very little trouble. In fact, I like this kit so much I purchased another. I would highly recommend this kit, especially for the first time builder.

Does what it says on the tin.

Bought one of these to install into a Ruger stripped lower. All the parts were in spec, no fitting needed, everything functions properly. I've got no complaints. If I ever decide to build another lower, I'll definitely buy another DPMS parts kit.If this is your first time building a lower, I would recommend to order an extra detent and detent spring from Brownells along with this kit as well. Those parts tend to go flying when you install the front pivot pin, and extras are cheap insurance to make sure your build stays on track. And regarding all the complaints about the trigger pull - you're buying a mil-spec parts kit, don't be surprised when you get a heavy mil-spec trigger

A GOOD HEAVY COMBAT TRIGGER

I gave this 4 Stars because it is just as advertised A Mil-Spec Trigger. That said It has a Very Heavy Trigger Pull, in excess of 6 pounds! It Breaks Cleanly with the expected GI Over Travel. Using a Good Quality assembly lube (like Frog Lube) will greatly improve the trigger pull. It installs easily although I prefer Anti Walk Pins. Aftermarket Springs are available should you desire to try to lighten the trigger pull but are Not For Combat / Self Defense Uses. If you want a Better Trigger Pull get Another Trigger. Bolt Catch Spring was too long...

I was putting together a lower assembly based upon a stripped Anderson lower receiver. Almost everything fit nicely and functioned properly except the Bolt Catch. None of the magazines I have, from Vietnam era Colt pieces to the latest Magpul M3 PMAGs, could manage to trip the Bolt Catch. I decided to remove a coil from the Bolt Catch Spring and re-square it. Better, but not enough. I removed another coil, and re-squared. Bingo! It worked! I wouldn't mind too much except that removing and reinstalling the Bolt Catch Roll Pin to get to the spring, without scratching the receiver, is one heck of a challenge (for me, anyway) and, of course, fitting should not have been required.Everything else was fine. No pieces missing. No other fit or function problems. Of course, your mileage may vary...

Missing parts!

Was starting my first lower build, and after getting a couple of steps in I realized I am missing about 6 different parts from this kit. This put an unexpected halt to my progress while I wait to hear from DPMS (emailed them with a list of the missing parts). And no, I wasn't missing small things like detents or any of those little springs. Key components were missing.

Kinda on the fece on this one

Ordered two of these kits to build a couple of lowers. I'm guessing the quality of the parts are no better or worse than what comes on most lower end ar's. Parts all fit and functioned properly. Trigger break is right around 8 pounds, a bit on the stout side, but acceptable. Fair product for a fair price, I guess. Would have thought a little more highly about the product if all of the parts were in the kit. BOTH kits arrived missing the disconnector. I can see this happening occasionally, but BOTH KITS? Called the phone number on the kit, DPMS told me straight out they won't cover it, call Brownell's. Five stars to Brownell's for sending out, on their dime the missing parts that DPMS did't put in the kit.

Like the other reviewer, my build is now on hold until I receive another LPK (went with CMMG this time, along with a Colt buffer tube, plate & castle nut) because the mag release spring was missing from the jumble of parts slopped together in the flimsy zip-top bag DPMS packages everything in.Gonna save these as spares, i guess.

The parts kit fit perfect on my AR build. The trigger is excellent for a stock, non-competition trigger. Mine had a clean break and a very tactile and audible reset. Would use again in any other lower build.

Good trigger for the price

Good trigger and group, especially for the price. I bought this for a 9 mm AR build and was not expecting much. The trigger far exceeded my expectations. Trigger pull was 7 1/4 lbs, broke clean. Not bad for a new, stock trigger on an AR.

Missing Magazine catch spring

Giving this a 1-star because my kit was missing a magazine catch spring which delayed the entire build. Otherwise the parts were quality. My trigger group had a very small amount of slack, but broke cleanly.

Ar-15 Lower Parts Kit. Where to buy?

Ar-15 Lower Parts Kit.

A Trigger-Free Parts Kit to Finish Your Stripped Lower

One of the reasons why the AR-15 is so popular among firearm enthusiasts is the ability to buy a stripped lower receiver and complete it on your own, adding in all the components you want and none you don't. However, many lower-parts kits on the market include every component, including the components that builders often toss to the side: a mil-spec trigger. Why pay for what you won't use? That's why CMC Triggers launched its AR-15 Lower Parts Kit This CMC Triggers AR-15 Lower Parts Kit includes every small bit you need to complete a lower receiver, and all the parts included are guaranteed to meet or exceed military specifications. However, a few parts you won't get are the trigger, hammer and the springs associated with each. That's because CMC Triggers is providing consumers with the ability to add in their own trigger without having to pay for a mil-spec design that won't see use. After installing all of these components from the CMC Triggers AR-15 Lower Parts Kit, all you need to do is find a trigger, a buffer tube, stock and pistol grip, and your lower-receiver is ready to roll!

Awesome kit

I love not paying for parts I won't use, so the kit without a milspec trigger and subpar plastic grip is awesome. All pins were sized perfectly. I do not like the plastic trigger guard. Everything else was great.

Does the Job

Package arrived in a small clam-pack box. All the parts were stuffed into one bag, but if you know what you're doing it's easy to sort them all out. I ditched the original pistol grip and trigger guard for Magpul parts, but they seem to be of similar quality to the rest of the parts. Everything fit well in a Stag Arms lower, however the hammer pin seems a tad loose and tends to rotate...not a huge issue for a tactical rifle. Comparing the parts to my S&W lower parts everything seems a little less beefed up. After function checks and very very little breaking in everything seems to run as smooth as a mil-spec trigger can be expected. Finish is pretty alright. Again everything seems to be a little less...quality than what came pre-installed on my S&W. That being said I only installed it recently and I have no way of saying how long the finish will last. And with THAT being said, I am happy with what I got for the price I payed. The kit will function well in your mil-spec lower. Happy building, friends!

bushmaster lower parts kit

If you know how to install a basic lower parts kit then this should be a sinch. But if this is your first build be warned, all the parts are in one bag with no instruction. However it seemed as the roll pins were a little large. My kit came with an extra detent and also an extra sear spring.I was impressed on how little trigger creep there was.Trigger pull was quite heavy. After getting the entire kit installed I noticed the takedown pin was a bear to press in, making it difficult to disassemble the rifle.I don't know how smooth the trigger pull is since I polished the surfaces before installing.Overall not a bad lpk. But for the price it's no better then a cmmg or dpms which are cheaper.

Great kit

This is a great quality parts kit. Very consistant single stage trigger with a clean break, no grittiness at all. No this is not a 2lb target trigger, look else where for that! This is a great trigger for a military/ tacticle rifle. I would not wory about missing parts as mentioned by a couple of reviews, I would worry about the quality of the parts & Bushmaster's quality is great. Things happen to all manufactures & parts are sometimes missed, but this is where Brownells great customer service takes over to ensure you will not be shorted anything. My kit was complete. Install was on a Spike's lower. I will buy again for my next build!

This parts kit is very good. No directions are included so if you don't know how to install look up instructions online. The product description does not say, but just an FYI this is a single stage trigger. There is no creep, but a very smooth pull until release.

missing part

was a little hesitant to order after reading other review stating missing part but ordered anyway based on bushmaster reputation. My kit was also missing a part, the disconnector. This missing part prevented me from finishing a build on time for a very unhappy customer. Won't buy anything with the Bushmaster name again. Brownell's customer service was A+ as usual and they immediately sent out the missing part.

Missing Selector

The biggest problem with the kit I had was that it did not include the selector switch. I am guessing that this was a fluke. I had already ordered an ambidextrous selector so it wasn't a problem for me. However it would be a big problem for anyone else. Otherwise it is a decent kit. The trigger pull isn't as gritty as a DPMS kit but it is nothing to write home about. The finish of the pieces is average and there were no defects in the pieces I received. The main reason I wouldn't recommend this is that I would be worried about it having missing pieces. Also it does not come with instructions but a quick search on the internet is all you need.

Not worth the premium for the name

Bought this over the $50 kits because it is made by a reputable company and I figured it would be good quality. That is really not the case. I demoted a star for each issue I had with the kit. First issue I had with the kit was the grip. This is probably the worst grip they could throw in here. It is just ABS plastic with out any fiber reinforcement. Feels like you are gripping a nerf gun - very disappointing. All the other parts seem to be on par with the cheap $50 parts kits. The other issue I had was functional. First function tests were fine. I exercised and lubed everything thoroughly, but after one full magazine that fired fine, the trigger would fail to fully reset. I had to nudge the trigger forward after every shot to get it to reset. Got it home and had to gently file the seer until the reset function cycled correctly again without issue. Bottom line, if you want a cheap lower parts kit, skip this one and just get a $50 one, there is no difference. Normally the CMMG name would mean quality, but not this time.

Nice Parts Kit

I am overall very pleased with this parts kit. All the parts look good and appear to be high quality. The trigger is surprisingly nice for a standard mil-spec part, definitely one of the best mil-spec triggers I have used. It has a very smooth pull and a clean break. The takedown pins are a little longer and dimpled to make it easier to push them out with a tool or bullet tip. The takedown pin detents were very stiff and required a decent amount of force to push the pins out but they eventually broke in. Same issue with the safety selector detent. It might not be a bad idea to snip one or two coils off the detent springs. The only part that caused me issue was the bolt catch roll pin. I think it is oversized and it is a real chore to install. It will fit, it just takes patience and a steady hand. I was installing this parts kit on an Aero Precision lower receiver, by the way.I would certainly buy this parts kit again. I think the price and quality makes it a great value if you are doing a basic build and will use all the parts.

Nice kit

It's a nice kit with all the parts separated in color coded plastic bags. One issue I ran into was with the safety selector detent spring. It's so strong that after the installation, it would require a wrench to turn the selector. I had to cut two coils off the spring to make it fit correctly.

Real Roll Pin, Please

Used the premium lower parts kit in an 80% build. Really liked the color-coded packages, as they not only positively identified each pin and spring, but helped keep parts in logical build order. Went together nicely UNTIL I noticed that the bolt catch pin was NOT a roll pin (that type of non-roll 'roll pins' have given me fits other times), so did not use it in the build. The extended/ambi bolt catch I used came with a REAL roll pin so that's what was used. I also had a Brownell's roll pin on hand as inexpensive "frustration insurance" but it wasn't needed this time.

As a first time builder I found this kit easy to use. The color coded groups were very helpful and the parts went together well. The only thing I would have liked to see added to the kit would be the tool for installing the pivot pin detent. I would recommend it to a friend.
